In this discussion on Meta-Wiki last month, some renamers suggested closing the English Wikipedia usurpation request page and directing users to Meta instead. As far as I know, English Wikipedia is the only wiki with its own usurpation page, while all other wikis process such requests on Meta. While requests on Meta are typically handled within hours, those on English Wikipedia often face delays due to a lack of attention from renamers. Given this, should all future usurpation requests be directed to Meta instead? – DreamRimmer (talk) 03:40, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

This RfC concerns the WP:NOTDIRECTORY and WP:NOTGUIDE policies.

Presently, there are numerous WP articles of religious calendars that list the full list of celebrations, feast day of saints, etc., without those articles being WP:Stand-alone lists.

The pages concerned, from what I have found, are: Tridentine calendar, General Roman Calendar, General Roman Calendar of 1954, General Roman Calendar of 1960, Institutional and societal calendars of the Roman Rite, National calendars of the Roman Rite, Personal jurisdiction calendars of the Roman Rite, Calendar of saints (Lutheran), Calendar of saints (Episcopal Anglican Church of Brazil), Calendar of saints (Anglican Church of Australia), Calendar of saints (Anglican Church of Canada), Calendar of saints (Church in Wales), Calendar of saints (Scottish Episcopal Church), Calendar of saints (Armenian Apostolic Church), Calendar of saints (Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui) (and previously Mysterii Paschalis).

My question for which I request comments is: is putting these long lists of religious feasts in those articles a violation of WP:NOTDIRECTORY or WP:NOTGUIDE, and if it so happens that they are a violation then what should be done with these lists? Veverve (talk) 18:25, 3 January 2025 (UTC)

The opening to the Abdel Fattah el-Sisi article read:

Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil El-Sisi^[a] (born 19 November 1954) is an Egyptian politician, dictator,^[1] and retired military officer who has been serving as the sixth and current president of Egypt since 2014.^[2]

(The word dictator been been removed for now while the RfC discussion takes place)

Should Sisi be referred to as a dictator? Some of these options are not mutually exclusive, so more than one can be selected:

A. Yes he should be, in a similar way as described above or found in the the leads of Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, Kim Jong Un, Hafez al Assad, Pinochet
B. No he should not be, but he should be described as an authoritarian ruler, leader of an authoritarian regime, or leader of a military dictatorship somewhere in the lead, similar to the leads of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, Mohammed bin Salman, Ilham Aliyev, Isaias Afwerki
C. No he should not be, but some variation of "Many observers see Sisi as a dictator" should be included in the lead.
D. No he should not be, and he should not be described as an authoritarian ruler. Instead, different arguments regarding his form of rule should be summarized in the body.
E. Other (please elaborate)

And does the polices listed above overrule the more widely available references describing their relationships and them as Conservative vs Free-Market? Should Wikipedia:Administrators#Restoration of admin tools be amended to:

Option 1 – Require former administrators to request restoration of their tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard (BN) if they are eligible to do so (i.e., they do not fit into any of the exceptions).
Option 2 – ~~Clarify~~ Maintain the status quo that former administrators who would be eligible to request restoration via BN may instead request restoration of their tools via a voluntary request for adminship (RfA).
Option 3 – Allow bureaucrats to SNOW-close RfAs as successful if (a) 48 hours have passed, (b) the editor has right of resysop, and (c) a SNOW close is warranted.
